Details of Synflex please
Hi -had a consultation with a mxillo, facial and oral surgeon and he prescribed Synflex 500mg to help with a TM Joint problem-When i went to collect it from the pharmacy they said it cost around R230 cash-
First of all,as far as i know its an anti-inflammitory medication so i don't understand why it's so expensive as ibuprofen is also an anti-inflammitory med and is much cheaper?Could you explain to me the indications of this Synflex and what the difference is between this and other anti-inflammatories?

Synflex contains a different anti-inflammatory (naproxen) compared to ibuprofen. You are right by saying that they are both anti-inflammatories, but even if they do fall in a related group of drugs, they still contain different active ingredients. A simple example would be that a Porsche and Golf are both cars, but the one is more expensive with a different performance - Usage depends on your needs. The same with meds. Your specialist probably had better results with some of his patients using synflex and that is why he would prefer you to use it. However, if you prefer to drive the golf then you can try the ibuprofen. I'd say go for the Porsche - Luckily with medication there is the option of generics... you should be able to get one at a lower price.
