Hi Sheri,

first and foremost it sounds as if you need to get some support for yourself and I would strongly recommend that you seek out counselling to begin making sense of your situation and what you need to do about it. For example, at 22 your son can be asked to leave the home if he is abusive and threatening violence, but you have to be prepared to see that through and ask him to leave.

Your daughter I suspect sees that you are not enforcing boundaries and as a result keeps pushing for what she wants and perhaps gets no resistance to that and becomes increasingly powerful.

Think about getting some support for yourself - contact FAMSA at www.famsa.org.za who offer services for families.

The help you need starts with help for you to regain your emotional strength.
