Hi Sue,

We have had students that have literally practiced yoga and came to classes up until the day before they gave birth. It is really about getting to know your body and listening to what feels good and right to do, stretching a little more gently. Certain postures that put too much pressure on the abdomen like backward bends on the floor become impossible, but practices that open the hips like some of the squatting postures are good and the cat stretch is an excellent one for the whole back, provided you don't overstretch. So it basically means you need to be more aware of the stretches, which is ultimately the aim of them anyway. It is best to have a few private classes or go to specific pre-natal classes as there are many postures that are suitable for the different stages of pregnancy. Being pregnant is one of the most spiritual times for a women and yoga can help one really explore deeply the miracle of it.

Good luck and enjoy the experience.
