ujay or normal breathing?
Hi there

Could you pls tell me, in yoga when you inhale and exhale, do u use normal breath or ujay breathing?I use ujay breathing in my meditation and was wondering if i should use it.

Hi Beginner, I normally practice Ashtanga Yoga so have been taught to use the ujayi breath throughout the but in the other styles of yoga that I have done - either different techniques or no specific technique have been suggested. The ujayi breath is a heating and relaxing form of breath which I find helps me focus, but I think the most important thing is to maintain a regular rhythmic breath and to try and focus you awareness on an aspect of the practice - breath, alignment, posture so that becomes your meditative focus.
