Hi homegirl, there are many different styles and approaches to yoga and, as a result, there are plenty of books and DVDs available both online and at the local bookstores. The ideal would be to find an experienced and knowledgeable teacher in your area but failing that, I suggest seeing if you can rent and try a few videos/dvds from the local library - just to try a few out before buying. Also browse your local bookstore and see what feels appropriate for you - they tend to have many beginner's ones.
Good luck and all the best.
