10 reasons to start cycling

  1. Cycling is an enjoyable way of getting fit – and enjoyment means you are more likely to stay at it and therefore keep fit!

  5. You can cover a lot of distance if you wish to and no petrol is required.
  6. It’s very social; you can cycle with the family or a friend. It’s also a great way to meet new people, for example at fun rides.
  7. On the other hand, it is an individual sport and you can choose to cycle alone. You can also set your own pace and go fast or slowly, as well as choose the distance you wish to cycle.
  8. You can set yourself goals such as riding the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycling Tour.
  9. Cycling has a low risk of injury as it is low impact and is non-weight-bearing exercise.
  10. Cycling is a reasonably priced sport. You can get a good deal on a quality bike that can last you for years.
