How does asthma medication work?

Two types of treatment (often in the form of inhalers) – those that target chronic airway inflammation and those that relieve acute bronchial spasms – are necessary for effective asthma treatment.

  • Immunotherapy (Treatment which makes you less sensitive to allergens)

    A new desensitising treatment called sLit (immunotherapy drops placed under the tongue) has reduced asthma in 80% of children. More than 300 children with asthma are currently testing it at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town..

    Be aware, though, there is no homeopathic replacement for inhalers.
