Clicks announces flu vaccine in stock

The flu vaccine, including protection against the H1N1 strain (swine flu), is available at Clicks Pharmacies nationwide.  Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent flu.

Urging customers to get vaccinated ahead of the flu season, Clicks MD Michael Harvey, said that ample stock of the trivalent vaccination is now available.

“It is difficult to predict the severity and length of the flu season, but we don’t foresee a vaccine shortage in South Africa this year.”

Harvey emphasised the importance of getting the flu shot now at any Clicks Pharmacy and Clinic to protect yourself throughout this winter.

Flu virus constantly changing

According to the World Health Organisation, the flu viruses are constantly changing.  Generally new influenza virus strains circulate every flu season. Each year, before flu season, the most recent circulating viruses are identified and included in a new vaccine to offer protection.

Unlike a common cold, the flu can cause severe illness and life-threatening complications in high risk groups such as the elderly, young children, people suffering from diabetes, asthma, chronic heart, lung or kidney diseases.

In addition to vaccinating early, health experts advise observing correct coughing etiquette, washing your hands regularly and covering your mouth when you sneeze to help reduce the spread of the flu.

Flu vaccinations can be given to children as young as 6 months.

Get your flu vaccination now at any Clicks Pharmacy and Clinic for only R59.95 including VAT, as well as a free pack of 14 Vitamin C tablets or 10 Viral Choice capsules, just to give your immune system that extra boost.
