The two-minute miracle de-stressor

The first very easy step that you can take towards wellness is making time every day to be a human being rather than a human ‘doing’.

Learn to unwind

Make this 2-minute stress buster part of your daily routine (or practice it when you’re feeling tense) and feel the tension melt away:

- Simply sit quietly in a chair, feet flat on the floor, hands relaxed in your lap.

- Change your breathing rate, making it deep and slow - the antithesis to stress breathing which is usually fast and shallow. 

- Sit like this for between 2 and 10 minutes.

- When your mind wanders, simply bring your attention back to your deep and slow breathing and continue

This will put you in relaxation mode – as simple as that!

Tip: If you're stressed at work and worry you'll look silly doing this exercise at your desk, do it in the bathroom.

Remember, a new habit is only formed if you repeat it until it becomes second nature – every day for at least 4 months.
