Beware this new SMS job scam

How the scam works

Random sms messages are being sent to citizens which require them to deposit an amount of money into an account in order to secure jobs. They then have to present at a hospital.

Adverts have also been placed in local newspapers.

Helderberg, Valkenberg, Groote Schuur and Lentegeur Hospitals have been targeted in the scam.

People have been caught unaware and when they present to one of the hospitals they realise it is a scam, and they have lost the money they deposited.

The matter has been reported to the SAPS for investigation.
Please note that all Governmental Departmental recruitment is done via community newspapers and the website for departmental vacancies, where an official Z83 form will need to be completed.

No government posts would require applicants to make payments in any form.
