Yay for me!

If you're not going to be your biggest fan, who will?

Think of how you treat your significant other or best friend. You buy them gifts. You cheer them up when they’re down. You encourage them, remind them of their best qualities, and hold their hand through any hardship.

Now ask yourself, are you treating yourself the way you’re treating your loved ones? If not, something needs to change.

Loving yourself may seem egotistical, but it helps you accept yourself as you are, and benefits your health by making your mind, body and heart healthier.

Self-love is a journey and it’s time to get started.

Hey, good looking! You don’t need a personality transplant to improve your self-image. All you need to do is to change your mindset. When you look in the mirror, zoom in and focus wholly on your inner and outer beauty, despite the flaws.

You’re a good egg… your loved ones appreciate you and if you’re wondering why, it’s because you have so much to offer! Think about your special qualities, and the little and big things you do for others. Consider your unique talents and the good you have done so far. Don’t fret over the frequent stumbles.

Look good, feel good. If you love and appreciate yourself, you will automatically feel happier, and this will make you look and feel younger and lighter. When you're happy, you smile more, laugh more, and radiate happiness and youth.

Happy and healthy. When you love someone, you want to take care of them as best as possible. In the same way, if you love and appreciate yourself, you want to take care of yourself and put yourself first. So, exercise, follow a healthy diet, and go to your doctor’s appointments. Let this become second nature.

Make time for yourself. Just like you prioritise time for the people that you love, spend quality time with yourself too. Get enough sleep, make time for your favourite hobbies, and don’t spread yourself too thin.

Banish the bad mirror. When you look in the mirror, you may see flaws. At social gatherings you might feel you aren’t as smart or funny as other people. Let’s flip that mindset. Rather, focus on all the things your body and mind does for you. Your legs power your 10 kilometre runs, your arms churn through the water as you swim, propelling you forward. Love, appreciate and marvel at all these things.

Cheer for yourself! How great does it feel when someone supports you despite your faults and failures? Now, imagine how good it would feel if you received the same support from yourself. We all make mistakes and it’s not easy to forgive yourself for them, but learning to dust yourself off and try again, while supporting yourself will help sustain your self-confidence, and keep you going.
