Rash on arms after being in the sun
At the age of 20 I started to get a red rash only on my arms after being in the sun. Symptoms have got worse in recent years (I am now 26), I can go out for a matter of minutes and still get the itchy burning rash on my upper arms and it doesn't have to be particularly hot weather. It normally starts to show up in the evening and every year in spring it comes back, by the end of summer it's not so bad. I have eczema on my fore arms but this is completely different.

Thank you for the question.

From your description it seems you are developing a sensitivity reaction or allergy to sun light. There can be some specific causes such as certain medication, genetic reasons, certain topical creams and very rarely a true sun allergy.

Your best approach would be to see a dermatologist who can examine the skin and take a thorough history to exclude any possible cause.

Other things to consider is avoiding the sun during peak UV times (10am to 3pm), applying SPF 30 or higher that contains zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide several times daily, and avoiding other topical products on the affected areas.

I hope the above has helped

Kind regards
