Thank you for the question.
Ideally one would like to examine the area before
deciding on the best treatment approach. from your description this sounds like
a form of pigmentation known as melasma. Melasma is caused by an overproduction
of pigment due to hormonal changes. Typically seen in pregnancy but can also be
triggered by other hormonal changes in the body. Unfortunately this is a very
difficult form of pigmentation to treat, and one should rather see it as trying
to manage or lighten it as opposed to completely removing it.
Your best option would be to see an aesthetic
medical practitioner or dermatologist who can advise you on the best options. As
a general rule topical products containing vitamin C and retinol can be used,
skin lightening ingredients like hydroquinone in a Kliegman’s formula, and/or chemical
peels (glycolic/citric acid), can all help to reduce the intensity of the dark
mark.
I hope the above has helped.
Kind regards
