Persistent cough with orange sputum with XRAY results
I wrote the post "Persistent cough orange sputum" I have since had x-rays. I was told there is a lot of fluid in my lungs (right rib area) and the Doctor would like to do a CT scan. I have since started taking Zpack. It is my second day-still have the orange-rust cough. I was told it is probably Bacterial Pneumonia I am also wondering when the cough should stop? and if you think it might be something else? I also have a 25 year + pack a day smoking history. I quit over 15 years ago and I am in my fifties. No other serious health issues except positive for RNP and CCP. (RA) Thank you
You need to take advice from your medical advisor. The likely way forward is to see what effect the antibiotics will have and then to investigate for any underlying causes of the infection. If the x-ray does not clear up then you will need further investigation. They probably also had investigations lined up to determine why you have some water around the lung. It may all be because of the infection but things will become clear when test results arrive and when they do repeat chest x-rays down the line.
