Hello Dr Simpson. It's me again. checking in to see if you are still keeping well. It's been one (really bad word) of a year, one I a lot of the time did not think I would get through... But through the grace of God, yip I'm still here. The world has become a sader place, more desperate place, crueler place. Something I have always wanted to ask, I think about what people do to each other (seen it first hand the cruelty thereof) I think in my mind, how can a person think it's ok to touch another human being... I mean in the bad way... I feel bad about hurting insects, or if I hit a bird while driving etc... What flips in a person brain to make it ok and probably even enjoy doing the things to people that are almost demonic in nature and enjoy seeing people suffer etc... Anyway, that was just a thought. Have you been ok? I hope you have a blessed Christmas and that the year ahead will be a good one and please travel safe if you are traveling at this time God bless Annie
Good to hear from you again, and to know you're still here. Indeed it has been a dreadful year for good and sincere people. Those crooks who steal from the people have probably had a good year ; they usually do. The question of why there is evil in the world is rather a big one ! A Couple of thoughts. Most cruel people just do not register and feel that Other people are real people and that our feelings matter : they usually feel deeply about whatever troubles them personally, but don't feel the rest of us count so much, if at all. Just as most people are concerned about what happens in our neighbourhood, but don't lie awake at night worrying about Uzbekistan.
When we bump into a chair, we usually don't apologize to the chair : we don't consider that it has feelings or needs to be taken into account ; there are some people who see us all as chairs.
Yes there are some sadistic people who take pleasure in other people's suffering ; but far more people who simply don't care at all.
I'm getting by, though recovering from a recent bad fall and major head cut. More sadly, though, I have just been informed that due to budget cuts within the publishing company we are part of, it appears that these forums will be closed next month, and even after decades of work on them, we Experts will be left to wander away.
I hope you will have the great year and future you so richly deserve.
