Intense lower backpain after light jumping activities
Hi, I don't know where to turn to with my lower backpain. Over the last years I tried housedoctor, physiotherapist, chiropractor, and core exercises on my own, and nothing seems to help. If you could enlighten me on possible causes, types of specialists or good exercises, I would be so grateful! Since my two pregnancies I have been suffering from lower backpain that comes and goes, it worsen when I curve my back in the belly-forward direction and then try to stand straight again. 2 years ago I had a correct reception of a salto on a thick mat (impact on curved back, rounded back direction), the day later I could hardly move anymore from atrocious lower backpain and was diagnosed with an edema that pressed on the nerves. Solved in 2 days with cortisone etc. Ever since, when I do very light jumping (eg. 1 minutes on the trampoline with the kids, 10 jumps of rope skipping), I suffer a lot of low backpain the days after. I've gone to a chiropracter a month ago, it made things a lot worse, sine then I have backpain when I tend my belly muscles or take a deep breathe in. I'm doing the softest core strengthening exercises I could find, like 15 seconds planking, pulling the belly in, ... and afterwards my back hurts for another hour. I went to physiotherapy once, she would pull my feet a bit and it would feel better for about 3 days, and that's it. No long term solution, no diagnosis or exercises that could help. Would you have an idea what can cause this type of backpain, and how to live with it? Thank you so much! Elaine

Hi Elaine
Your back pain can be the result of many things and the only way to really determine the cause is to have an MRI done and to visit a neurosurgeon.
The other thing not to do is high impact exercise - jumping (even lightly !) is considered high impact.
Core exercises are great, but leave the planking for the moment.
I suggest you ask your GP to refer you to a neurosurgeon for a consult.
