High blood pressure
A 33 year old white male, 5’10”, 140lbs, went in for treatment and probable surgery on hernia. His blood pressure was taken on the first visit and they told him, he had high blood pressure and would have to go on medication to correct that problem. When he went to get the med. he checked his BP and it was 110/76 , which is probably normal for him. Is prescribing med. based on ONE blood pressure test a normal practice. What would you suggest?
It is wrong and impossible to diagnose hypertension on one value.
First monitor for 2 weeks and go back with the values on a paper. .
