What happens if you eat cigarette tobacco?

Well, it's not a good idea, because if you eat enough of it at once you can get nicotine poisoning. If an adult were to eat a cigarette, he/she would likely be OK, although maybe feel a bit nauseous. But it's dangerous if a child or pet eats tobacco, as the dose would be relatively much larger.
Tobacco contains various other toxins and carcinogens too, so putting it into the body in any manner should be avoided.
