Hi if you suffer from iron deficiency anaemia it is recommended to take a supplement to boost your iron stores. The bio availability of iron in foods makes it inadequate to correct anaemia. The amount you need depends on the degree of your deficiency The best will be to check with your doctor We normally suggest 100 mg elemental iron a day that you will find in a variety of supplements. You can take the supplement any time of day. Don t drink tea or coffee before or after as substances in these beverages can inhibit absorption. Vitamin C enhance iron absorption You can take the supplement with a glass of pure freshly squeezed orange juice. Important to note that anti- acid medication normally prescribed for reflux inhibit iron absorption
