We get it, fitting in workouts when you’re trying to survive the week is a daunting task. Researchers, however, have good news: your weekend efforts can make up for your lack of exercise during the week.  

In a new study, researchers analysed public health data of more than 350 000 US people, collected between 1997 and 2013.

The team, from the Federal University of São Paulo in Brazil, wanted to know whether performing the recommended amount of physical activity per week would affect mortality if performed in just one or two sessions over the weekend, or if it needed to be spread this out over three or more sessions during the week.
