Your ticket to Nature

Visiting reserves is an important way to support conservation, and September - apart from being spring - is a good time to do so. This week (8-12 September 2014,) is South African National Parks Week, when entry for SA citizens (take your ID along) is free to most reserves managed by SANPark

These are the reserves that are participating:
  • Addo Elephant National Park
  • Agulhas National Park
  • Augrabies Falls National Park
  • Bontebok National Park
  • Camdeboo National Park
  • Garden Route (Tsitsikamma, Knysna, Wilderness) National Park
  • Golden Gate Highlands National Park
  • Karoo National Park
  • Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park
  • Kruger National Park
  • Mapungubwe National Park
  • Marakele National Park
  • Mokala National Park
  • Mountain Zebra National Park
  • Table Mountain National Park
  • West Coast National Park
  • |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park
The only SANParks reserves not participating are Namaqua National Park, Boulders Penguin Colony (which forms part of Table Mountain National Park) and Tankwa Karoo National Park. Normal entry tariffs will apply in these cases, as their peak popularity times for visitors coincide with the current season.

Note that the SANParks reserves aren’t South Africa’s full complement of protected wilderness areas: we also boast those managed by Cape Nature and Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife.
