Ambience - problems & solutions

Outside areas - ambience - problem

The outside areas of your home can contribute much to or detract much from the general ambience of your home.

But the problem is, the outside areas of your home also have some rather unromantic functions – this is where tools are kept, where the dustbin is, where washing gets dried and where the outside drains are. How pest-free is your garden? Is it a place where you would like to entertain your friends?

How attractive is your garden? Is it kept clean and tidy? Are there smelly compost heaps and overflowing dirt bins that attract flies? How safe is it for your children to play in your garden? If you have a pool, is it kept clean and sparkling?

What are the things you can do to change your garden into a pleasant and peaceful place?

Outside areas - ambience - solution

Think of a hot wind-free summer evening. A long set table with a white tablecloth, crystal glasses, and aromatic candles under the overhanging trees. A lawn like velvet under your feet and a water feature gurgling in the background, and doves cooing in the trees above.

Yes, this could be your garden. It's wonderful how much you can do with a few strategically placed candles, a vine-covered veranda, pot plants and some nice garden furniture.

The garden of your house should be a place where you can replenish your soul and escape from the rat race. Here you should be able to relax with friends and family in a space where you feel comfortable – your own personal paradise.

The outside areas of your home can contribute much to or detract much from the general ambience of your home.

Bins and drains and other unromantic things should be well out of sight and certainly away from the area where your children play and where you entertain your guests.

Gardening tools, DIY tools and tins of solvents and paints should be kept well out of sight, and preferably locked away, especially if there are children playing in the garden.

And with the help of many handy products, your garden can also be kept free from insects like flies and mosquitoes. And it is also essential that your garden must be well-tended, regularly watered and neat.

After all, this is your space, and you want to be able to enjoy it.
