A new study has found that alcohol consumption, even in modest amounts, like having a few beers or glasses of wine a week, may reduce the volume of the human brain.

The study published in Nature Communications evaluated multimodal images to assess the links between alcohol intake and brain structure.

The researchers analysed data from more than 36 000 generally healthy middle-aged and older adults from the United Kingdom Biobank.
