A Covid-19 outbreak in Provincetown, Massachusetts, US, in July this year had a high number of vaccine breakthrough infections which prompted a detailed investigation.

The study found that these breakthrough infections took place in large, tightly packed indoor gatherings, where mask-wearing was not required for vaccinated people.

An early study was released by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in August, as reported by Health24. A new study, however, casts more light on these cases.
