As we head into the third year of the pandemic, many countries are offering booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccines to their populations, including South Africa.

This week, Moderna's CEO said a fourth Covid-19 vaccine shot could be necessary, as the efficacy of current boosters were likely to wane over time.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced that the country would offer a fourth dose to health workers and people aged 60 years and older – less than six months after it started offering third doses of the Pfizer vaccine. This has caused people to question the efficacy of the vaccines.
