It's been more than two years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Experts recommended interventions such as mask-wearing, physical distancing, and vaccination to avoid exposure to SARS-CoV-2. Some people have, however, been opposed to following Covid-19 regulations, and a new study points to people with narcissistic tendencies as being more resistant to these regulations.

The study, published in Current Psychology, assessed the impact of an exaggerated sense of one's importance and vulnerable narcissism on adhering to Covid-19 protective measures.

The researchers enrolled 1 100 people in the United States to respond to a survey asking questions about mask-wearing, vaccine behaviours, and attitudes. They were also asked about their feelings toward Covid-19. The participants also filled out assessments to measure their levels of narcissism.
