Since the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, scientists have tried to gain an urgent understanding of the risk factors associated with mortality in hospitalised patients.
In a new study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, researchers from the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) assessed nearly 67 000 hospitalised Covid-19 patients in 613 hospitals across the US.
According to their report, hospitalised Covid-19 patients have a greater chance of dying if they are men; are obese; have complications from diabetes; or have hypertension.
