The Covid-19 pandemic has literally changed the face of the world. For more than a year, the wearing of face masks has been compulsory in numerous countries in an effort to slow the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
While the majority of people have been adhering to this Covid-19 guideline, some people have questioned the usefulness of such a tool, despite evidence demonstrating its ability to block respiratory droplets.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did not recommend its use earlier in the pandemic, only to later advise the opposite. So, the confusion around its effectiveness is understandable.
