Either three doses of the same vaccine or a combination of mRNA vaccine types work well to prevent Covid-19 infections, even against different variants, a new study has found.

The research, published by The BMJ, evaluated the effectiveness of the same and a mixture of Covid-19 vaccines, with and without boosting, for the prevention of Covid-19-related infection, hospital admission and death.

The researchers looked at 38 studies from World Health Organisation Covid-19 databases. Studies that assessed the effectiveness of heterologous and homologous Covid-19 vaccine regimens, with or without a booster, were identified.
