Inflammation of the quadriceps insertion

Symptoms


  • Pain during and after exercise
  • If you contract your quadriceps while your leg is straightened, your knee will hurt
  • If you press the top of your kneecap, it will hurt
  • Stiffness the day after training
  • Pain when rising form a crouched position

What can be done?

  • R.I.C.E (rest, ice, compression, elevation)
  • Apply heat
  • Stretch your quads
  • Consult a sports injury specialist
  • Take anti-inflammatories
  • Sports massage
  • Use a plaster cast for a few weeks
  • Get a steroid injection
