Are you underweight?

You may know that eating dairy and doing exercise can safeguard you against osteoporosis. However, did you know that being underweight can increase your risk of this debilitating condition? What can you do if you are underweight?

Take action:

It's important to get to the root of the problem. Possible causes include: very rapid metabolic turnover, high stress levels, problems with nutrient absorption, hyperactivity, excessive exercise, hyperthyroidism, depression, wasting illnesses, or unbalanced eating patterns.

If you simply have a high metabolic rate, it could help to increase your daily intake of healthy foods to compensate for the rate at which you burn energy. Have six or more smaller meals a day, increase your intake of carbohydrates, and take a carbo-booster formula if necessary.

If this doesn't work for you – and you're not exercising in excess – it's best to seek professional help.
