Sandra Wheaton Nel of Pretoria writes I’m busy revamping my kitchen, which has cupboards painted in Plascon Natural White. I want to use scaffolding for the countertops; how do I seal the wood and what colour stain do you recommend? I love the colour of the table on page 93 in Home Renovations 2020, but I don’t want it to be too red or yellow; I’d like it to be a bit darker. Can you help?

Frikkie Greeff of Woodoc replies Wood can easily be stained and sealed with a Woodoc Sealer combined with the appropriate shade of Woodoc Colours. To a large extent, the final colour will be influenced by the natural appearance of the wood; Woodoc enhances, rather than conceals, the look. Some experimentation is, therefore, called for until exactly the right colour and intensity is achieved.
