A brand new kitchen with a rustic, lived-in feel. WHO Carina and Danny Lowe WHERE A smallholding between Middelburg and Witbank
The project
There were two must-haves for artist and interior designer Carina Lowe’s new kitchen: an island with a concrete worktop and a beautiful chandelier. She loves earthy colours and has always been crazy about a farm-style kitchen. ‘When we saw the kitchen designed by Milestone Kitchens in the February 2011 issue of Home, we immediately knew that was what we wanted.
‘With the exception of earthy colours, I’m also influenced by the current on-trend hues such as pastels, verdigris and teal – my personal favourites. After spending hours studying colour charts, I decided on a combination of two tones for the kitchen: French Chartreuse and French Jewel from the Plascon Cashmere range,’ she explains.
Carina also loves all the space available to her. ‘The kitchen is now part of the living area and I can watch TV while I cook!’
A rough brick wall with a twist – a blue instead of a white finish! The cupboards are from Milestone Kitchens’ English Elegance range.
