HONEY TV’s Room Reno is back for a second season. The home makeover show sees housemates, lovers, friends and even siblings tackle a problematic living space in their house. The show is hosted by Moyin Oloruntoba with Interior Designer Christelle Fonkem giving all the creative advice. Eric Makolane is all hands-on deck as the expert handyman. This season, the team has even more resources to work with. We caught up with the show’s designer, Christelle Fonkem, for a sneak peek into the second season.

What is the hardest part about helping people renovate their personal space?

Firstly, it’s the fact that it’s “their space” you are literally invading it, so I had to be very patient. Clearing most of the things that they think are important is also hard. The hardest is for them to see your vision before the end result and to trust the process.

What's the biggest difference between this season and the first one?

This season was easier. A nice bond was created between the presenters and I in season one, so it felt like working with friends. It was “déjà vu” in terms of contestants, nothing we didn’t see in season one. It’s always hard work to decorate a space in a day whilst shooting at the same time, but it wasn’t a surprise anymore. We were prepared mentally.

How has PEP Home made a difference?

PEP Home helped us be cost effective and effective with time. We actually all discovered that they have amazing pieces. Everyone was blown away once the design was done. From the crew members to the contestants.
