After an explosive season, the Nollywood Queens reunion special premieres on the 9th of July 2021 on DStv’s HONEY channel (part 2 on the 16th of July 2021). The much-anticipated show had social media ablaze as the channel’s freshest addition to their reality TV slate. The two-part reunion comes after a thrilling season of getting up close and personal with Venita Akpofure, Mimi Orjiekwe, Grace-Charis Bassey, Nuella Njubigbo and Mercy Isoyip.
Actor and reality star, Uti Nwachukwu sets the stage for the unravelling of season one’s unanswered questions, the drama you never knew existed, and the bond that inevitably formed between some of the women. “Viewers can expect a lot of shade, blatant honesty, flowing tears and some drama” he says. “Through all of this there’s still a strong display of pure love and sisterhood. You should hold on to your seats, because I sure did.” This is Nwachukwu’s first collaboration with HONEY TV in what promises to be an epic TV special.
Season one has seen some iconic moments with social media scattered with commentary each Friday night. Some memorable highlights included Mimi and Nuella’s constant personal woes around relationships, love and marriage and Grace-Charis’ controversial name change which left more questions than answers. Other points of tension included Mercy’s emotionally turbulent journey to find her father, and Venita’s continuous attempts to bring all the women together. Viewers can expect many climatic moments including an exchange of harsh words that brings new light to the long-standing feud between Nuella and Grace-Charis. Nollywood Queens is another show produced by the popular production house, Black Roots Media. The Nigerian reality and cooking show, Love Swap has also enjoyed similar popularity. “Working with an amazing cast brought an idea from paper to fruition and seeing it all come together made it a joyous journey” says Lusanda Chauke, Show Producer. “The reunion episode is a must watch and can’t wait for the viewers at home to experience all that’s in store for them.”
“The Nollywood Queens held nothing back at this reunion” says Keneilwe Senyatsi, HONEY’s Commissioning Editor. “You can expect unpredictable confrontations from all sides when the queens finally face one another on the couch alongside Uti. Viewers will witness their vulnerable and hilarious sides.? We see long-term friendships and loyalty get tested. In the end, a few misunderstandings are finally mended.”
