YOU WILL NEED
• mutton cloth
• lacquer thinners
• 250ml Tjhoko Paint in the colour Matt Black
• 250ml Tjhoko Paint in the colour Shorty’s Story
• 290ml Stencil of Paris
• 50mm paintbrush
• paint tray
• Tjhoko Paint stencil (code 2021-45-6)
HERE'S HOW...
1 If your cabinet has a varnish layer older than 6 months, clean it thoroughly with a mutton cloth dipped in lacquer thinners*. Wait 20–40 minutes for the lacquer thinners to dry, then paint the entire cabinet with a coat of Matt Black.
2 Wait 20–40 minutes for the paint to dry (remember, the weather and climate play a huge role in the drying time of paint and paint products). Mix a jar of Stencil of Paris with 150ml Shorty’s Story.
3 Use this mixture to create texture. Only paint brush strokes vertically (up and down); apply the mixture thicker in some places and thinner in others so that the Matt Black is still visible here and there. Wait about 30 minutes before adding more texture and definition by applying the same mixture horizontally (left to right) in places over the previous textured layer.
4 On the drawers Paint a coat of Matt Black and wait until it is dry before you start stencilling. We cut the stencil smaller to fit precisely inside the recessed panels of the drawers. To create a rough, textured look, dab the paste and paint mixture on with the paint brush.
* Furniture that has been newly varnished in the past 6 months should rather not be painted.
