Ingredients
- 2 - onions, chopped
- 60ml - oil
- 2 - cloves garlic, bruised
- 2cm - fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 1 - cinnamon stick
- 4 - cardamom seeds
- 2 - cloves
- 2 - whole allspice seeds
- 1kg - minced meat
- 10ml - turmeric
- 15ml - medium curry powder
- 5ml - cumin powder
- 5ml - coriander powder
- 1 - tin chopped tomatoes
- 2 - potatoes, peeled and diced
- - salt
- 250g - frozen peas
Method
1. Stir-fry the onion in oil until soft and transparent. Add the garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and allspice.
2. Stir in the mince with a fork and stir-fry until the meat is no longer pink and has formed loose ‘crumbs’.
3. Stir in the remaining spices, along with the tomatoes and potatoes. Cover and simmer until the potatoes and meat are cooked and soft. Season to taste, stir in the peas and simmer until soft.
