Elly Grossman of Cannon Rocks, Eastern Cape writes: From time to time the earthworms in my compost bin crawl up out of the composting material to just under the lid and remain there for a day or two, before descending into the mix to continue with their good work.
This migration seems to have nothing to do with the temperature, rain or shine, what I add or don’t add to the container, or whether I have watered the contents.
Please can you shed some light on the phenomenon?
