This room with its blow-up mattress and vintage cupboard was in dire need of a makeover – a lively colour injection with the Dulux Colours of the World™ range provided the perfect palette!
Dulux Colours of the World™ Passionate Argentina™ paint is washable, low odour and ideal for interior walls. Here’s how we created a two-tone ombre wall:
1. The wall must be clean before you apply the base coat. Decide on the two paint colours you’d like to use (we opted for Tender Argentina™ and Truly Argentina™) and paint the entire wall in the lighter shade – in this case, Tender Argentina™.
2. With a spirit level and pencil or chalk, lightly mark the wall where you want the two colours to blend.
3. Using Tender Argentina™, start from the top ?of the wall and work your way down to the floor. ?The idea is to let your paint roller run out of paint along the marked line, so you achieve a soft, ?uneven line. We then started with our second ?colour, Truly Argentina™, just below the marked line. Work upwards into the first colour to create the colourwash effect then continue towards the skirting.
4. Once both colours are dry, start the blending process. Lightly dip the tip of a large dry paintbrush into one or both of the paints and blend in criss-cross patterns or until the two colours are blended to your satisfaction. Your ombre wall can be as subtle or imaginative as your creativity allows. Have fun!

Finishing touches
Keep the rest of your décor in the same colour scheme so as not to detract from your feature wall.
Re-use and recycle old items such as this rusty lampshade which was treated to two coats of Hammerite™ Direct to Rust Metal Paint in a Smooth Black. Adding an upholstery fringe with a glue gun softens the look of the lampshade.
