The best moments from our first décor school

We hosted our first Tuis l Home Décor School in Cape Town from 7 to 9 October 2020 and it was loads of fun. And the venue? A lovely Victorian family home in the heart of Cape Town. See pictures of the house here (and book if you want to stay for a night).

"If it was up to Mr Price Home, we will have a décor school every two months. We have big plans for a second event, but definitely not every two months," jokes Wicus Pretorius, editor of Home.

The 14 students shopped 'til they dropped at Mr Price Home, our layout artists also showed them the ropes of how to put together a magazine cover, our creative editor Marian van Wyk shared the do's and don'ts of styling and they were taught how to take striking photographs. They also heard from Kerry Strauss, marketing manager of Mr Price Home and interior decorator Isabel Barends of the VIA TV show My plek of joune?

"It was absolutely inspiring - from the home visit to Doreen de Waal's inAWEstays holiday home to the visit to the fabric store Skinny laMinx and the photo shoots they did in the homes. I think one of the highlights for the students was definitely working on the cover pages. Every cover could make a fantastic cover," says Wicus.

And news on a second décor school?

"We're excited, Mr Price Home is excited, so there's definitely going to be another décor school – just not this year. Keep an eye on our social media platforms for news on the next one."
