BOOKS: Hammerman by Mike Nicol (Umuzi) and The Heist Men by Andrew Brown (Penguin).

Both writers will appear at the Franschhoek Literary Festival (13-15 May) to talk about their new books.

The Heist Men and Hammerman have much in common.  Both are crime novels written by masters in the field. Both are parts of a series, featuring characters from previous novels, but both work perfectly well on their own. Both are set in Cape Town and feature gangs, although different sorts of gangs. And in both, an important character is lost.
