Pie-Pacifique Kabalira-Uwase was 14 when genocide swept through Rwanda. He later escaped from the country and made his way to South Africa, where he worked as a car guard in Durban while completing his studies. After much struggle, with help from locals and Rwandans in South Africa, he finally won a Mandela-Rhodes scholarship.
