When Cynthia Stimpel was appointed group treasurer of South African Airways (SAA), she thought she had found her dream job, and that she would be at SAA for years. However, in her new book 'Hijackers on Board'she writes how she became one of the key whistleblowers to stop state capture at the state-owned entity. In the extract below, Stimpel detailed how former SAA chairperson Dudu Myeni cancelled meetings between the airline and National Treasury.
Dudu Myeni, the powerful chairperson of SAA who had the ear of President Jacob Zuma, was seated at a table in a small boardroom on the sixth floor of Airways Park. "It's our time to eat," she told the stunned top brass of the airline.
