Afrikaans journalist, poet, and writer Jeanne Goosen has died. She was 81 years old.

According to a report by Netwerk24, Goosen died at her home in Melkbosstrand at 23:30 on Tuesday after slipping into a coma.

Goosen, born Jeanette (Jeanne) Helena in Cape Town on 13 July 1938, studied radiography at the University of Cape Town and pursued many various career paths, including journalism, before finding her voice in the literary field. She published her first volume of poetry 'n Uil vlieg weg in 1971.
