The Beautyful Ones Have Just Been Born, Notes on Falling, Don't Upset ooMalume!

News24's books editor Shaun de Waal takes a closer look at the books we can look forward to in the next month, as well as those that have just been released and have caught our eye.

South African publishers have a host of interesting books that have either been released or will be released in the next month or so, from non-fiction books about inner-city Johannesburg and growing up queer in a South African township, to fiction about a doctor involved in a witch trial in 1662.

On the shelves already and sparking discussion about the state of South Africa and what is to be done about it, is Songezo Zibi's Manifesto: A New Vision for South Africa (Pan Macmillan). The former Business Day editor asks what has to change if South Africa is to become a place we all want to live in and discusses how to overcome the legacy of political negligence, incompetence and corruption that bedevil this country.
