First hosted in 1986, the Amashova Durban Classic is one of South Africa’s most esteemed cycling events.

Experienced KZN riders know that if you dislike running, but find the Comrades route appealing, there's a cycling race that fulfils requirements - the Amashova.

Configured in three distances, there is an Amashova that will appeal to any rider, experienced or novice.

An Amashova for all

The 38km option is popular with families, and the 65km is picturesque without being too taxing.

Riders who prefer a challenge can choose the full Amashova, which ranges at 106km.

Scheduled for 23 October, the Amashova will broadly be following Comrades down run route, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

The safest way to do a big KZN road ride

Although KZN has some of the most inspiring scenery for riders to explore, the province's severe traffic conditions and wild driving behaviour can make road riding fraught.

For those riders who want to enjoy the best of KZN road cycling without the anxiety and associated risk, an Amashova is always the answer.

With strategic road closures, the Amashova delivers all that is great about KZN riding by mitigating your traffic incident risk.
