  • Indoor trainers have evolved enormously in the last few years.
  • Enhanced virtual worlds and better processing power have made riders keener than ever, to earn a lot of their training miles at home.
  • The latest innovation is an indoor trainer that you can lean through corners.

The pandemic triggered a pivot toward indoor training and huge demand for better stationary training bikes.

Various digital training platforms, such as Zwift, offer incredibly realistic indoor training options. And cycling hardware is finally starting to catch up with the digital software.

If you are a committed indoor rider and want to make that living room training experience even more realistic, there is a new stationary bike with much promise.

The Muoverti TiltBike aims to make your virtual ride that much more realistic by allowing a natural lean angle through corners.

With the extreme realism of many digital riding worlds, such as Zwift, riders often desire a more harmonized feel when training indoors. Muoverti promises to offer this with its TiltBike.

Like riding a real bike

Although the company name might sound Italian, Muoverti is a United Kingdom startup and its debut product looks mighty impressive.

With the demand for more lifelike indoor training bikes, Muoverti recognized an opportunity to create its TiltBike. When the road curves on your virtual riding app, the TiltBike allows you to lean it around corners, as you would, on a conventional road ride.

How does Muoverti’s indoor training bike keep its balance and equilibrium, instead of tipping over? Engineers have designed the TiltBike with a series of elastomers, that allows the lateral tipping motion and have adequate resistance to guide the TiltBike back to a neutral position.

Delivering a more 'natural' indoor training experience

Beyond the coolness factor of having an indoor training bike that can lean like a proper road bike, there are additional benefits to the TiltBike’s lateral movement.

Riders who have tried an out-of-the-saddle climbing or sprinting effort on traditional fixed indoor trainers, will know that it can be awkward. With the bikes often unconfidently shaking from side-to-side.

The Muoverti TiltBike allows for small lateral rocking motions when applying a very high cadence or peak power, engaging all those stabilizer muscles you would on a real-world road ride.

Pedalling resistance is provided by an electromagnetic system and a clever thumb joystick on the right side dropbar, controls menu options and syncing with your virtual riding app.

In its final prototyping phase, Muoverti is due to deliver its innovative TiltBike to market in 2022.
