  • Endurance cyclists like aero and information
  • But mounting your cycling computer on a gravel bike with aero bars, can be challenging
  • This new Farr component helps you keep the aero tuck and your data stream

For solo long distance riders, the aero position is key.

Having handlebar extensions, that allow you to rest on your forearms, is an important aspect of smoothing your aerodynamic profile and saving some watts on a huge outride lasting many hours.

Although handlebar extensions make it comfier to complete that 150km gravel ride, they can create an issue with your field of view, regarding digital devices. The cycling computer head unit, or clip-on GPS, has become an integral part of cycling – and endurance riding, in particular.

If you are navigating through the Karoo or attempting to find your way through an unfamiliar road network, glancing down at your digital navigation unit is vital. But if you are leaning on those handlebar extensions, in the aero position, stealing a glance at the screen of whichever device is mounted atop your bicycle’s stem isn’t easy.

Being both aero and aware

Farr has revealed a new product innovation designed to solve this issue. The brand has a range of comfort handlebars and extensions, shaped to enabled riders to roll significant gravel road mileages, in the best possible comfort.

The latest component from Farr is its clip-on GPS mount. Configured to work with the brand’s mini bolt-on aero bar, this aluminium three-piece GPS mount weighs only 40g.

It mounts at the trailing edge of your bolt-on aero bar and can be adjusted to the perfect angle for a rider’s height and natural field of view. With the combination of Farr aero handlebar extenders and clip-on GPS mount, you can remain in that aero position for hours and have all your riding data in line-of-sight.

The Farr clip-on GPS mount retails for R1300 and includes both Garmin and Wahoo compatible hardware.
