Hydration packs are one of the significant outdoor activity innovations that have enabled more adventurous rides. But all mountain bikers have experienced the frustration of spillage, too.
When you are on a long ride and stop to mix that endurance drink next to a natural water source, any hydration pack bladder spillage, is mighty annoying.
German brand, Fidlock, believes it has created the world’s first spill-proof hydration bladder.
Magnets make it all better
A specialist in magnetic applications for the mountain bike and cycling industry, Fidlock’s tech make helmet chinstraps fasten and unfasten, singlehanded. Fidlock also produces a range of water bottles that eschew the traditional bottle cage for a magnetic frame-clip system.
The latest creation from Fidlock’s industrial design department is its first hydration bladder – and yes, it features magnets.
How does Fidlock support the claim of having created a hydration bladder that never spills when refilling? By positioning three magnetic strips along the opening of the bladder. These magnetic strips are perfectly shaped and orientated to each other, guaranteeing rapid contact-closure when required.
It doesn’t spill, despite your negligence
It’s a clever design, and even if you drop a Fidlock hydration pack during a refilling fumble, it will shut automatically during the fall. Without spilling all your meticulously mixed mid-ride refuelling formulation all over the trail.
To ensure that whatever to pour into its new range of hydration bladders tastes the way it should, Fidlock has sourced the best BPA-free TPU material. Scheduled for market availability by September, the Fidlock magnetic-sealing hydration bladder is sized in 1.5- and 2.5-litre volumes, depending on your requirements
