  • Love hip-hop music and singlespeed riding? State has some great new bikes for you.
  • Collaborating with one of the most celebrated hip-hop groups in history, these three State bikes could be your ideal idea of cool.
  • With all three bikes being singlespeed, they are very cheap to maintain.

What do bicycles and hip-hop have in common? State bicycles and the Wu-Tang Clan.

The latest collaboration between State and one of the world’s most popular hip-hop acts has delivered three new bikes. For hip urbanites and retro mountain biking fans.

State’s speciality is minimalist urban cycle transport, mostly fixies and singlespeed bicycles with a low maintenance burden.

When you want to hip-hop on gravel

The first of State’s new Wu-Tang Clan bikes is the Klunker. With a steel frame, rigid fork, riser handlebar and coaster brakes, the Wu-Tang Killer Bee Klunker is best suited to cruising a promenade instead of singletrack trails.

As cycling historians know, the first mountain bikes were called Klunkers, by their users. And State has tried to remain faithful to the look of those 1970s bikes, with curved tubes and an absence of modern brake technology.

The mid-range option

If big tyres don’t appeal to you, there is the Wu-Tang Core Line. It’s a classic urban cruiser made from steel tubing.

Unlike the Klunker, product planners at State know that riders on a Wu-Tang Core Line will be moving at speed in high-density urban areas. To make the bike appropriately safe in traffic, it features rim brakes.

The Wu-Tang Core Line has a dominant black colourway, contrasted by yellow hubs and subtle graphics.

Alloy and carbon. For hip-hop speedsters

Need more speed? Then consider the Wu-Tang 6061 Black Label. This bike might look broadly similar to State’s Wu-Tang Core Line, but its tubing is aluminium instead of steel. And the fork is carbon-fibre.

By not using steel in the Core Line’s build, State creates a very light urban bike, that rolls with great efficiency and is easy to pop over road debris and onto cycle lanes.

Beyond the three Wu-Tang Clan branded bike options, there is an impressive catalogue of accessories. Grips, seats, handlebar bags, and riding apparel is available with the Wu-Tang Clan branding.

For ardent fans of hip-hop music, who fancy the idea of a low-maintenance commuter bike, State’s new Wu-Tang Clan range could be a very trendy buy.
